Software Description:

W8 Picker (W8 DM) is a software package designed to control the weighing of harvests directly on-field and managing the performance of each individual harvester.

The W8 Picker program is the ideal solution for crop management and harvester payment.

The W8 Picker consists of two separate modules:

  • The fixed module - installed on the central computer, allows the management of weighing results, their collection by GPRS communication from on-field mobile terminals, the generation of statistical reports, the management of harvesters as well as the payment and pricing policies.

  • Mobile module - installed on mobile terminals (industrial PDA, tablet, mobile phone), allows tracking on-field results by scanning the barcodes of vegetable and / or fruit boxes at the collection point.

The most commonly used scenario is the following: The farm administrator generates a sets of label stickers on the fixed module that uniquely identify the harvester who uses them. Optionally, if applicable, the barcode may contain other statistically useful information (harvested field, product range, etc.). The harvester uses these labels on the boxes at the collection point, after weighing the boxes and ensuring the net weight of each box.

The supervisor, using the mobile terminal, scans the barcodes, and then - by transferring the data to the fixed module of the W8 Picker - the system allows the reporting of the results of each harvest day with the quantities and sums of money earned by each collector. A system that ensures a fair harvest season for both parties.

Fixed Mode Functional Features:

  • Harvester administration, with different fares per harvester;

  • Possibility of allocating fares based on criteria other than the number of kg and / or crates collected (eg hourly fare, for workers assigned to support activities, such as field cleaning, resumption of rows to avoid losses, etc.);

  • Possibility to generate barcodes from simple ones (eg only the serial number of the harvester) to very complex ones (eg including the serial number of the label, the product, the harvested field, etc.);

  • Possibility to cascade from one W8 Device Manager instance to another instance. Distributed architectures are thus obtained, and weighing data can be collected and processed remotely from the scale;

  • Daily activity log reporting function. Thus, at the end of each day, the administrator can print and display the results of the day so that harvesters can track their sums to be collected;

  • Statistical reporting feature on crop by product or field, to allow the administrator to plan post-harvest actions (field treatments, fertilisers and product category);

  • Manually transfer data between the fixed module and the mobile terminals or by using a scheduler at well-defined times (eg very early in the morning or very late in the evening) to use one of the periods when the terminals are not in use on the field.

Mobile Mode Functional Features:

  • Graphical, intuitive and easy to use interface;

  • In normal operation, all you have to do is scan the barcode of each box. Industrial terminals allow scanning under any environmental conditions (including direct sunlight);

  • Possibility to work online as well as offline;

  • Distinguishable, high-pitched sounds for each successfully scanned or failed barcode. This allows both the operator and the harvester to know, without having to look on the screen, that the box has been recognized and registered.;

  • Multiple keys to check the validity of a specific barcode (e.g. prevent a duplicate barcode, a barcode outside a certain series range, etc.);

  • Possibility of installation on multiple equipment;

  • Industrial mobile terminals (PDAs) with built-in barcode;

  • Industrial tablets with built-in bar code, intended for use in harsh working conditions (outdoors, in refrigerated warehouses, etc.);

  • Personal phones and tablets. In this case, it is necessary to connect a barcode reader to these terminals;

  • Possibility to use the module directly on-field or in refrigerated rooms, sorting warehouses, etc.

  • Possibility to generate simplified statistical reports to enable operational decisions to be made (eg call for the collection vehicle, etc.).
