Software Description:

W8 Device Manager (W8 DM) is a software package that provides fast, flexible and easy-to-manage connectivity to virtually any weighing machine or peripheral connected to a computer via a serial communication port (RS232, RS422, RS485, MODBUS, PROFIBUS, etc.) or TCP / IP.

W8 Device Manager allows information to be relayed to other third-party applications.

There is no limit to the number of connectable devices.

Benefits:

  • Unprecedented connectivity capabilities to weighing systems and peripherals. Virtually any device with a known serial port or TCP / IP communication protocol can be connected to the W8 Device Manager;

  • It is not necessary to recompile the application for the implementation of new equipment. The communication protocol is defined by a dedicated definition file;

  • A wide range of equipment that can be connected to the W8 Device Manager: scales, on-board scales using GPRS modem , humidometers, printers, automatic weighing terminals, camcorders, ANPR (license plate recognition) cameras, RFID readers, identity card scanner, fingerprint scanner, barriers, traffic lights, repeating displays, vehicle framing sensors, etc

  • Possibility of remote data repetition / re-transmission (via internet, VPN, etc.) to another W8 Device Manager instance. Thus, distributed architectures for the acquisition and processing of scale data can be realised, with the central remote application.

Connectivity:

  • Possibility to connect to equipment through serial ports: RS232, RS422, RS485, MODBUS, PROFIBUS;

  • Possibility to connect to equipment through the local network TCP/IP;

  • Possibility to connect to remote equipment, using GPRS modem, web services or TCP / IP socket;

  • Possibility to cascade connect from one W8 Device Manager instance to another instance. Distributed architectures are thus obtained, and weighing data can be collected and processed remotely from the scale.;

  • Communication protocol and connection parameters are easy and intuitive to configure, regardless of the connection scenario;

  • Pre-defined communication protocols for most common weight indicators: Dini Argeo, Flintec, Sartorius, Mettler Toledo, Precia Molen, Cardinal Scales, Tamtron, SEG, Rice Lake, etc.;

  • Possibility to define a communication protocol using new equipment without the need to re-compile the application or develop new modules;

  • A wide range of equipment that can be connected to the W8 Device Manager: scales, on-board scales using GPRS modem , humidometers, printers, automatic weighing terminals, camcorders, ANPR (license plate recognition) cameras, RFID readers, identity card scanner, fingerprint scanner, barriers, traffic lights, repeating displays, vehicle framing sensors, etc..

Connectable Equipment:

  • Static scales (car scales, rail scales, platform scales, crane scales, etc.);

  • Dynamic scales (dynamic rail scales, dynamic car scales, band scales, batch dosing scales, etc.);

  • On-board scales (front loader scales, timber scales, waste truck scales);

  • Dedicated printers;

  • Automatic weighing terminals;

  • Repeater displays;

  • Scale traffic control systems (barriers and / or traffic lights);

  • Scale framing sensor systems (infrared barriers, geomagnetic sensors, etc.);

  • Image acquisition systems (video surveillance cameras). Multiple cameras can be connected to the same scale;

  • ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras for automatic identification of the road or rail vehicle number on the scale;

  • Bar code card readers, RFID, etc.;

  • ID card scanners;

  • Fingerprint scanners;

  • W8 Device Manager (cascading connection).
